DBCT P/L launches the 2014 Picture Book Competition

Following on from a successful competition last year, Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal Pty Ltd (DBCT P/L) launched the 2014 Picture Book Competition on Tuesday, 29 April 2014.

The competition requires entrants to create an original story about the DBCT P/L Mascot, Hector the Lump of Coal and has a prize pool of $4,000.

With such a high standard of entries from last year’s competition, organiser and Senior Specialist PR & Communication for DBCT P/L, Sharon Johnston, is looking forward to this year’s submissions.

“We received entries from across Australia, with established children book authors and local school children all applying. It was great to see the creativity and originality of the entries.

"Both the winning and runner up entries were published, which was a great outcome."

The competition is run in conjunction with DBCT P/L’s sponsorship of the Whitsunday Voices Youth Literature Festival, and provides emerging writers and artists with the opportunity to have their work published.

The winning entries are published and used as part of DBCT P/L merchandise for our site mascot, Hector. The picture book is used as a giveaway so no royalties are created, however there is an additional prize payment if a manuscript is turned into a book.

For more information on the competition visit the Community Involvement area on our website or download the entry form here.
