Health & Safety
DBCT P/L believes that all injuries can be prevented and the safety of all persons on site is our top priority. Our guiding principles are:
- Working safely is a condition of employment
- We look out for each other
- No person will accept an unsafe condition
- PPE is not optional
- All incidents are reported
- Good Housekeeping is essential
DBCT P/L safety efforts include:
Regular training and information sessions
All persons working on site must undertake an induction which outlines safety requirements. In addition to this DBCT P/L staff attend regular safety training and information sessions, while regular contractor safety meetings keep contracted workers informed of relevant safety information and requirements.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
PPE commonly used at DBCT P/L includes enclosed shoes, safety boots, hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, face masks, dust masks and gloves.
SLAM
We employ the SLAM risk assessment to identify and control hazards. This process says:
- Stop - and engage your mind before your hands
- Look - at the environment and find the hazards
- Assess - the effect the hazards have on you and others in the area
- Manage - with controls of the hazards and advise others of the control requirements
Procedures
A wide range of work procedures have been developed to ensure that tasks are completed in the safest manner possible. Information on safe systems of work is available from your DBCT P/L Contract Superintendent.
