DBCT P/L is committed to minimising the impact of the terminal’s operational noise on the community. Noise is monitored in real-time and reported monthly and quarterly to the local community and relevant regulatory authorities. Noise controls include low-noise idlers and air handling systems to reduce noise generated by conveyer drives. DBCT P/L has also modified the way we monitor coal leaving the train wagons to ensure we are using wagon vibrators as little as possible. DBCT’s rail receival sheds have all received upgrades in recent years, with new insulation installed to help reduce noise.

In addition to our regular monitoring, DBCT P/L also uses an acoustical engineer to undertake sound attenuation monitoring to assess the operational noises created onsite and to look for further opportunities for noise reduction.
