Changes to Daly Bay Sponsorship

Daly Bay has made some changes to our sponsorship program to make sure that we can work well with successful applicants to leverage sponsorship opportunities.

The main changes relate to lead time requirements for events and sporting applications.

All event applications must be received at a minimum of twelve (12) weeks prior to the event, while all sporting applications must be received eight (8) weeks prior to the start of season/competition and must be in sufficient time for clothing orders.

Senior Specialist Public Relations, Sharon Johnston, said with Daly Bay receiving so many applications, it was important for people to put their best foot forward. The Daly Bay sponsorship committee meeting monthly, applicants needed to give sufficient lead time to ensure all marketing and printing return on investments could be met.

“We want to make sure that events we sponsor have good marketing plans in place, which includes good promotion in the lead up to the event,” said Sharon.

“These plans should include a schedule, such as promotional print deadlines and social media posts, as well as content creation for these activities.

“When we invest in events, we want to make sure we’re getting value for money. If people don’t apply for funding well in advance, then we might miss out on promotional opportunities.”

Sharon said it was important for event planners to create a timeline that considers the timeframes needed for sponsorship applications.

“It’s no good applying for sponsorship after your posters are already in circulation around town.

Sharon said it was similar for sporting clubs, with applications coming in quite late, sometimes after the season had already started.

“We love seeing our logo on sporting teams, but we want it to be on uniforms and training shirts for the whole season.

Sponsorship Tips:

·         Get your application in as early as possible.

·         Be specific with your return-on-investment offerings (what the company will get in exchange for provide funds).

·         If successful, make sure you provide proofs for approval before going to print/sending our promotional material.

·         Talk to your sponsors to see if there’s any other opportunities to collaborate.

·         Think outside the square for what you can provide as return-on-investment.
