2021 apprenticeship intake

Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal Pty Ltd (DBCT P/L) is looking for new electrical and mechanical fitter apprentices to start with the organisation next year.

Each year, DBCT P/L hosts six new workers as part of the apprenticeship program, which runs over four years.

DBCT P/L CEO, Steve Rae, said he was hoping for a diverse applicant pool and encouraged people to apply if they wanted a career in the electrical or mechanical fitter trades.

“In recent years we’ve fortunately been successful with female candidates, and our last intake included a mature age apprentice.

“I am hoping this year we get a range of diverse applicants. I would encourage Indigenous people interested in becoming an electrician or a mechanical fitter to apply.”

Mr Rae said he didn’t want applicants to be discouraged if they didn’t tick all the boxes from the ‘ideal candidate’ list in the ad.

“Behaviours and attitudes are important. We want people who will work safely, want to learn and can work in a team environment as a priority.

“Things like previous work experience and some school subjects are nice to haves, but not essential.”

Applicants will need to apply for the apprenticeships via the MRAEL website: Electrical / Mechanical Fitter

Applications close on 5 July.
